Terms of Use
Last updated: 10 October 2026
This is a translation of the German terms of use. If the two versions differ, the German version prevails.
In short: The account is optional; you can play all levels and the daily puzzle without one. If you use an account, you choose a decent name and play fair. There is zero tolerance for offensive names and abuse: you can report and block others, and I step in. Ribbo Plus (since version 1.2) is optional too; purchase and billing are handled by Apple or Google.
1. Scope
These terms apply to the account in the Ribbo app and to everything it unlocks: your name, your rank in the daily puzzle and your friends. Section 8 applies to Ribbo Plus, even without an account. The provider is Fabian Meyer, see the imprint.
The app itself is covered by the licence of the store you downloaded it from: on the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement, on Google Play the Google Play Terms of Service.
How I handle your data is explained in the privacy policy.
2. Your account
- The account is optional. You can play all levels and the daily puzzle without an account.
- You create it in the app by signing in (on iPhone with Apple), and in doing so you agree to these terms.
- You can create an account from the age of 16. If you’re younger, you need your parents’ consent.
- The account is for you personally. Don’t pass it on to others and don’t use other people’s accounts.
3. Your name
Your friends see your name next to your time. It has to be decent. In particular, you may not use a name that
- insults, threatens or demeans,
- attacks people because of their origin, skin colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age,
- contains sexual or extremist content or glorifies violence,
- passes you off as someone else, such as a well-known person, Ribbo or the provider,
- contains advertising, addresses or contact details.
The app and the server check names against a list of blocked words. So a name that passes this check isn’t automatically allowed.
4. Fair play and conduct
- Solve the daily puzzle yourself. Helper programs, automated solving, exploiting bugs and any attempt to falsify times or results are not allowed.
- I can remove times that weren’t achieved according to the rules from the rankings.
- Since version 1.5 the same applies to your best times and the weekly league: best times whose record fails the check aren’t shown to your friends and don’t earn points.
- Don’t use friend codes and invite links to harass others, and don’t try to guess other people’s codes.
- Don’t get around a block or a suspension, not even with a new account.
- Don’t attack the app or the server and don’t disrupt their operation.
5. Reporting and blocking
Zero tolerance: I don’t tolerate offensive names and abuse. For this you have two options in the app, both in the Friends tab, in the “…” menu on a friend’s row:
- Report: with the reason “Offensive name” or “Other”. The person doesn’t learn about your report. I look at every report, usually within 24 hours.
- Block: The person is removed from your friends and can’t become friends with you again, not even with a new code. They won’t find out. If you ask through support, I’ll lift a block.
You can also simply remove friends; the friendship then ends for both of you.
6. Moderation
If an account breaks these terms, depending on how serious it is, I can
- reset the name; the person then chooses a new one,
- remove times from rankings,
- suspend the account temporarily or permanently.
Repeated or serious violations lead to a permanent suspension. If you think I stepped in wrongly, write to me at hallo@ribbo.de.
7. Deleting your account and suspension
You can delete your account in the app at any time (Me → Delete account). Your levels, times and streak stay on your device. With a Google Account you can also request deletion by email without the app; with an Apple Account you need the app for this (Delete account, in German). What is deleted on the server is explained in the privacy policy. A suspended account can no longer sign in; what happens to its data is explained there as well.
8. Ribbo Plus
Ribbo Plus is available since version 1.2. It’s optional: you can play all levels and the daily puzzle without Plus. Plus unlocks the following in the app:
- the archive of daily puzzles from 1 September 2026,
- all line skins,
- unlimited hints.
There are three options; you see the prices in the app before you buy:
- Monthly subscription without a free week.
- Yearly subscription with one week free. The free week is available once per Apple Account or Google Account.
- Lifetime Plus as a one-time purchase without a subscription.
Purchase and billing: Purchase, billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). Their terms apply: on the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement, on Google Play the Google Play Terms of Service. I don’t receive any payment details.
Renewal and cancellation: The monthly and yearly subscriptions automatically renew for another month or year unless they are cancelled at least 24 hours before they expire. You can cancel either one at any time in the subscription settings of your Apple Account or Google Account; Plus then stays active until the end of the paid period. You request a refund from Apple or Google under their rules.
One account, one platform: Plus applies to the Apple Account or Google Account you bought it with, on all your devices with that account and the same platform (iPhone or Android). Family Sharing isn’t supported at the moment. You don’t need a Ribbo account for Plus.
Lifetime Plus unlocks the same benefits as the subscriptions, without expiry and without further payment, for as long as I offer Ribbo and the app is available on the App Store or Google Play.
